What does odi mean in cricket?

Share it Please

In cricket, ODI stands for One Day International.

It’s a format of limited-overs cricket played between two international teams, where:

  • Each team usually gets 50 overs to bat (although it was 60 overs per side in earlier years).

  • The match is completed in a single day, unlike Test matches which can last up to five days.

  • Both teams wear colored jerseys (not traditional whites), and a white cricket ball is generally used.

  • ODIs are recognized by the International Cricket Council (ICC) as official international matches.

ODIs are very popular worldwide and are one of the three main international formats, alongside Test matches and T20 Internationals (T20Is).

👉 Would you like me to also explain how ODIs differ from T20s and Test matches for better context?
